Private Patients

Mr Nolan has been a Consultant Trauma and Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeon since 1999 – based in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Musgrave Park Hospital and the Ulster Independent Clinic. His particular area of expertise is spinal trauma, spinal tumours and adult low back conditions including:

• Mechanical Back Pain
• Sciatica – Disc Prolapse and Spinal Stenosis
• Spondylolisthesis
• Disc Degeneration

Appointments can be made through the appointments office in the Ulster Independent Clinic, 245 Stranmillis Road, Belfast BT9 – Telephone 02890 661212.

Clinics

Mr Nolans clinic is on Wednesday morning in the Ulster Clinic. X-rays and MRI scans can be arranged and reviewed with you that morning and then a treatment plan instituted.

Non Surgical Treatment

Most back conditions do not require surgical treatment. In most cases conservative management such as physiotherapy or pilates are sufficient – this can be booked on the morning of your consultation. If necessary spinal injections – such as epidural, facet or nerve root injections can also be arranged within a few days.

Surgery

In certain conditions, resistant to conservative management, surgery is necessary. This may include -

• Disc Excision
• Decompression
• Spinal Fusion
• X-stop posterior distraction device
• Dynesys dynamic stabilisation
• Surgery for Spondylolisthesis – reconstruction or fusion

Payment

Appointments are charged within insurance company guidelines – please contact our office for an estimate. Payment cannot be made on the day of consultation. You will receive an invoice the day after the consultation and payment can be made through your insurance company, by cheque, BACS transfer (contact our office for account details) or credit card. Mr Nolan is registered with all the major health insurance companies. MRI scans or other investigations and treatments will attract an additional charge over and above the consultation fee.
